Catharine Agee

On May 1, 2013 at 11:15 AM, Catharine Ann Agee, 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, after a valiant 3 ½ year battle against cancer. We rejoice that she is now with the Lord, no longer suffering, although we are heartbroken to see her go. Cathy was born on August 4, 1953 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Betty Harsha and Truman Harsha Jr. In 1960, her family moved to Fort Collins where she has resided ever since. Cathy attended various schools in Fort Collins including Barton Elementary, Lesher Junior High, and Fort Collins High School, where she graduated in 1972. Cathy went on to earn a full ride viola music scholarship at the University of Northern Colorado where she studied business and accounting. Cathy married her high school sweetheart David Agee on June 7, 1975 and they would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary this year. Although she had various jobs over the years, her most important job of all was being a homemaker and a mom. Cathy and Dave had two girls, Jackie, born November 2, 1985, and Becky, born on November 11, 1988. She loved her girls dearly and instilled in them the gift of unconditional love and many other wonderful qualities. Her family was deeply important to her and she will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, and sister. Cathy is the utmost example of what it means to be strong and to have hope. Up until a week before her death, she was still saying her infamous phrase, “I’m going to beat it.” She battled both breast cancer and cholangiocarcinoma, rare bile duct cancer. Although she suffered greatly and went through more pain than we will ever know, she always was strong in her faith in Jesus and took the opportunities at the hospitals and doctor office’s to tell people her story and to minister to them about her faith. She met countless precious friends during her struggles and said that was the thing she was most thankful for. Cathy is survived by daughters Jackie Wynne (Justin) and Becky Remley (Devin); mother Betty Harsha; husband, David Agee; brothers Truman Harsha III (JoDell), William Douglas Harsha (Jonni), and James Harsha; brother-in-law Martin Agee; Cathy’s precious Siamese kitty Missie; and many other special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends. Cathy is preceded in death by her father, Truman Harsha Jr.; infant brother John Charles Harsha; paternal and maternal grandparents; and many loved pets. The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Sorensen and his staff for all of their special care of Cathy over the past year. Also, we would like to thank Hospice for giving Cathy the dignity and comfort she deserved at the end of her life. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado or The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Allnutt chapel in Fort Collins. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Life Pointe Church in Fort Collins, with a reception to follow. A private burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
