Joseph D. “Doug” La Munyon, age 91, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at San Juan Living Center. Joseph Douglas La Munyon, Jr. was born on September 15, 1921 in Grand Junction, Colorado to parents, Joseph Douglas Sr. & Inez Jane (Stock) La Munyon. He attended schools in Grand Junction and furthered his education at Mesa State College. Following, he joined the United States Army Air Corps and spent over a year at Yale University being trained as a flight maintenance officer on B-29’s, serving his country in World War II. He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. He married Leora McCrillis and to their union were born two children, Scott and Sharon La Munyon. Later they divorced and Doug married Annie in California, fall of 1967. He adopted her youngest child, Janice Tipton and was a step-father to David, Sheri and Richard. During his working years, Doug worked in construction and was an installer for AT&T in Southern California for more than 30 years. He retired in 1980 and lived in Castle Valley, Utah for 25 years. Doug and Annie are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an LDS mission in Sacramento. Finally they moved to Montrose, Colorado to be near family when their health began failing. Doug is survived by his wife, Annie La Munyon of Montrose, Colorado; children, Sharon Delia of West Virginia; Scott La Munyon of Vermont; David Tipton of Utah; Sheri Aslin of Montrose, Colorado; Richard Tipton of Naturita, Colorado and Janice La Munyon of Cedar City, Utah. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado. Jaye Bruce, age 82, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center. Jaye Floyd Bruce was born in Montrose, Colorado on November 20, 1930 to Floyd and Edna Bruce. He attended the Montrose County schools. He spent most of his working career for Montrose County Road and Bridge. After retirement, he enjoyed making crafts out of wood. Mostly from old apple boxes furnished by his brother-in-law. The craft ideas originiated from his sister-in-law, which kept him busy filling her orders!! He enjoyed working on cars and repairing things around the home. He loved and trusted his Lord and Savior. Jaye married Kathryn Watson on March 7, 1954. They had two daughters, Charlene and Deborah. Jay was proceeded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen, Edith, Maribelle, Florence and sister-in-law, Jackie Watson; brothers, Bob, Marion, Ed, Horace and daughter, Deborah. Jaye is survived by his wife, Kathryn; daughter, Charlene and son-in-law, Frank Jones of Collbran, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Angela (Jeff) Niles; Rebekah Jones, Valerin (Glenn) Darrow, Naphtali (Jared) Renshaw; Theresa Jones, Kerry Jones and Hannah Jones; twelve great grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Abigail, David, Anna, Daniel, Sophia, Emma, Aiden, Caelum and Emma; sister, Jessie Lee (Mike) Kramer, Delbert Bruce; sister-in-law, Nickie Bruce; in-laws, Lloyd Watson, David (Ann) Watson, Florence (Bill) Frigetto, Clarence Watson and Clifford Watson. Thanks from his family to all those who prayed, sent cards, fixed meals and called. To the Montrose Christian Church for all they did for him; his extended family who gave so much of their time and love all the previous years. Also thanks for Dr. Sullinger and Dr. Kilbourn. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 2 P.M. at the Montrose Christian Church. Burial will follow at Grand View Cemetery. Calvin Gray 34, of Delta, Colorado passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013, the result of a accident. Calvin Eugene Gray was born May 11 1978 in Grand Junction to parents, Steven and Marie Gray. He married Deann Schmidt July 20, 2008. Calvin is survived by his loving wife, Deann and adoring mother, Marie Gray. He is preceded in death by his father, Steven. Calvin was a lifelong truck driver, hauling livestock in all 48 states. His trucks were always well taken care of, nice and clean which was very important to him. When he was at home, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He would help anyone that needed it, and always said ” just buy me a beer sometime”. Calvin will be greatly missed. A private service for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 13 2013. Calvin will be cremated and his ashes spread over the Grand Mesa.
